The view from Bowleaze Cove west of Weymouth towards Ringstead and White Nothe.

Weymouth has a safe, sandy main beach which can get packed with tourists in summertime.

A view of White Nothe looking from just West of Ringstead. There is a path leading down from White Nothe towards the sea but this is not for the faint hearted.

If the weather has been dry for a while you might be able to make the remains of a deserted medieval village in fields above today’s Ringstead.

Burning Cliff, a popular tourist attraction in the 19th century when it got its name by spontaneously igniting. This land, like a lot of that along the south west coast, is owned by the National Trust.

Above Middle Bottom with Durdle Door in the distance. Around here is just about my favourite section of path. Usually pretty quiet and a great place for getting away from it all. A round trip walk from Ringstead NT car park is a good way to blow away the cobwebs.

Durdle Door - a natural limestone arch west of Lulworth Cove. Popular with the tourists, but the fact that there are no roads that close means that some are kept at bay.

Lulworth Cove - somewhat of a tourist magnet with a massive car park. It doesn’t take long before you’ve left most of them behind.

From the far side of the bay you will be entering the Army Tank Firing Range. Check beforehand by telephoning 01929-462721 that the range is not in use.

Look out for the Fossil Forest just off the Coast Path East of Lulworth.

This is the view from Mupe Bay west towards Portland. Be warned this viewpoint is not reached without significant effort.

Worbarrow Bay. There is a good section through the multi-coloured Wealden Clay here.

Worbarrow Tout close up. It is worth a short diversion from the path to see the abandoned village of Tyneham, ‘borrowed’ by the Army in 1943 but never returned.
